Description

This activity was programmed with the software Mentimeter (https://www.mentimeter.com/es-ES). Participants were asked to respond to the question: What association do you have with the word science/research? Then, their answers appeared on the large screen in the anonymous form.

These initiatives are organized for audience interaction and polling to obtain their associations and
opinions on relevant topics. In this case, the local people were asked to describe their associations/thoughts related to science and research. This type of activity can be utilized in a
variety of settings, such as conferences, workshops, or classrooms, to collect and show participants’
thoughts and connections with a specific topic, thereby encouraging participation and
conversation. It’s a good technique to gauge a group’s thoughts and perceptions on a certain subject.

Results of the community word cloud of science

Conclusions

More than 200 people took part in the poll. The results demonstrated that the citizens´ most frequent emotions and associations with science are curiosity, hope, and progress.
