Transformation Lab at Kiel University, Germany 14 June 2023


Scientists from Kiel, Brest, Gdansk, Split, Malta and Cádiz met to learn and exchange about transdisciplinary projects.

After a warm welcome by Vice-President Eckhard Quandt, Kiel University and Axel Koch, Head of the Transfer Department, Kiel University presented examples for research with and for society: SpaCeParti, run by the Center for Ocean and Society (KMS, Kiel University) and the idea behind the CAPTN Network enabling clean, autonomous transport.

They took a field trip to the North Sea to exchange information with scientists from the Research and Technology Centre West Coast of Kiel University (FTZ Büsum) and NGOs in the Wadden Sea National Park.

They received information on cooperation with the state authorities with regard to the exploration and protection of the cliffs at the Baltic Sea.

They had the chance to talk to fishermen in the city of Eckernförde, getting insights in the perspectives of small-scale coastal fisheries and the future scenarios for the Baltic.

In addition, there will be time for an exchange on regional transdisciplinary projects run by the Universities of Brest, Cádiz, Gdansk, Malta and Split.

The common goal of the Transformation Lab and the reSEArch-EU initiative is to strengthen transdisciplinary research at the participating universities.
