We are delighted to announce the online publication of the REA Report on the “Progress of University Alliances Projects”. This report offers a comprehensive analysis of the intermediate progress made by the 17 European University Alliances projects, which were funded under the Horizon 2020 SwafS call, “Support for the Research and Innovation Dimension of European Universities – Pilot 1”.
By releasing this report, we take great pride in providing valuable policy feedback and evidence regarding the implementation of the ERA Policy Agenda – Action 13, which aims to empower higher education institutions to develop in line with the ERA and in synergy with the European Education Area. The report showcases the tangible progress, major challenges, and noteworthy practices accomplished in various areas of institutional change within the 17 University Alliances of Pilot I. It covers the initial 18 months of their implemented action plans. We believe that the highlighted good practices in the report are particularly significant as they address each of the transformational modules outlined as follows:
(1) developing a common research and innovation agenda,
(2) strengthening human capital,
(3) sharing research infrastructures,
(4) engaging non-academic actors,
(5) mainstreaming Open Science,
(6) engaging citizens and society, and
(7) exploring joint university structures.
Moreover, we are proud to mention that the findings of this report have contributed to the Study “Towards a European Excellence Initiative,” commissioned by DG RTD.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the 17 European University Alliances of Pilot 1, as well as the external experts, for their collaboration and valuable inputs in the creation of this report.
