On July 28th, a seminar on Blue Growth was held as part of our SEA EU Talent program. The two guest speakers for the session were two young researchers who are experts in the field: Trinetra Mukherjee and Wojciech Pokora.
Trinetra is a microbiologist and BIENVENÜE MSCA-COFUND postdoctoral researcher at the BEEP laboratory, Universite de Bretagne Occidentale, France. She is currently working on the investigation of the adaptations of deep-sea piezophiles under high-pressure conditions, and the biotechnological potential of the molecules responsible for these adaptations. The title of her presentation was: Adaptation of piezophiles to amino acid deficiency under high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) conditions.
Wojciech is Assistant Professor of The Department of Plant Physiology and Biotechnology in the Faculty of Biology, University of Gdansk. His research line is carried out on a model of single-celled planktonic algae (Desmodesmus, Chlamydomonas), using asynchronous and synchronous cultures to enable studies of cell cycle progression and regulation. The title of his presentation was: Hydrogen peroxide as a tool for green algae growth regulation: how it works?
