Can you solve problems with new ideas? The last seminar of our Spin Off Competence Lab 6 July 2023

Design Thinking – Solving Problems with new ideas – Kiel University

On 4th and 6th July two sessions of the webinar of the Spin Off Competence Lab about “Design Thinking – Solving Problems with new ideas” were led by Katharina Knapp and Leve Freiwald.

The speakers have prepared a webinar consisting of two fully and complementary practical sessions, where participants have been able to work in groups throughout the process, putting into practice the theoretical concepts explained. In addition, they have prepared downloadable material for the sessions which will be available on our website in case anyone wants to repeat the process.

As a short CV of the speakers  Katharina is a Lecturer of the Institute of Business Administration, Katharina Knapp offers courses and workshops in the field of entrepreneurship for students and PhD students of all disciplines at Kiel University. The goal of this theory-based but practice-oriented program is to increase awareness of entrepreneurial thinking and self-employment as a career option. Leve completed an apprenticeship as a chemical laboratory technician at Bayer MaterialScience AG in Brunsbüttel, Germany. He then studied industrial engineering with a focus on electrical engineering and information technology at Kiel University. During his studies, Leve Freiwald spent most of the time working as a research assistant at the Chair of Radio Frequency Engineering and the Chair of Radio Communication.

In total there were more than 30 people who attended this seminar from the different Universities of the Alliance. All attendees agreed on how useful, practical and applicable the content was and were very satisfied with the opportunity to practice the 6 phases of the design thinking process until they created their prototype and tested it.
